Norwegian citizens traveling to Canada must obtain travel approval before entering the country. The process has been significantly simplified since the Canadian government introduced the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system in 2016. It is now possible to obtain an online electronic visa waiver from Norway to Canada exclusively through a simple eTA application, eliminating the need to go to the Canadian Embassy or Consulate to apply for a travel permit in person.

An approved ETA for Norway is a multiple entry travel authorization that allows the holder to stay in Canada for a total of 6 months with each entry. Below you will find all the information needed to complete an online visa waiver requirement for Norway to Canada and to submit an application.

Do Norwegian citizens need a Canadian visa?

All Norwegian travelers must have a Canadian visa before entering the country legally.

Norwegians who plan to spend up to 180 days in Canada can obtain a visa waiver through a simple eTA application online. It only takes about 30 minutes to complete a piece of information, a device with an internet connection, and the application.

Once Canadian electronic approval is granted, it is automatically attached to the traveler’s passport. A Canadian eTA is valid for five years, or until the corresponding passport expires, whichever comes first.

An approved eTA holder who travels to Canada more than once over the years does not need to re-apply for travel approval each time. Similarly, Canadian ETAs can be used for multiple entries unless their validity is less than 180 days.
